Transform Trauma, Mexico in partnership with Newman Institute brings together some of the most influential voices in trauma research, therapy, neuroscience, and integrative healing; including Bessel van der Kolk, Dan Siegel, Dick Schwartz, and more. Offering a rare opportunity to learn directly from globally recognised leaders alongside emerging and cross-cultural practitioners, all sharing cutting-edge insights, practical tools, and transformative approaches aligned with this year’s theme.
More speakers to be announced.
Building on the foundation of Oxford 2026, Transform Trauma Mexico will be a landmark gathering where ancient wisdom and modern science meet. Set within a region rich in ancestral traditions, the theme places culture, spirituality, and indigenous knowledge at the centre of the conversation on trauma and healing, and how these can deepen and expand contemporary therapeutic approaches.
At the same time, Transform Trauma Mexico represents an important moment of expansion – bringing world-leading experts and leading-edge developments in trauma science and integrative care into Central America, where access to this level of training, integration, and global dialogue has not been as widely available.
By creating a space that is both accessible and culturally attuned, the conference supports a meaningful broadening of understanding and practice across the region.
The Riviera Maya is one of the most spiritually and culturally significant landscapes in the world. Home to ancient Mayan civilisation, bordered by jungle and the Caribbean Sea, this is a place where the depth of human history and the natural world meet – and where the theme of Healing Across Cultures feels not just fitting, but alive.
There is something about being in this part of the world that invites a different quality of presence. That quality is woven into everything we have designed for this event.
The Tulum Event Center is set within the jungle of the Riviera Maya – a space built to bring large communities together, surrounded by the sounds and presence of the natural world. It is a setting that holds the scale of our full gathering while keeping you connected to the environment outside.
This year’s theme, Science, Spirit and the Body: The Synthesis of Healing, explores the meeting point of evidence, lived experience, and the ineffable. The conference is a four-day international gathering focused on trauma, mental health, and wellbeing, bringing together leading clinicians, researchers, educators, and practitioners from around the world.
The conference is delivered in a hybrid format, with both in-person and virtual attendance options, and features a rich and varied programme of keynote presentations, panel discussions, and experiential sessions.
For in-person attendees, the event takes place across multiple centrally located venues in Oxford, allowing for a diverse and dynamic programme while remaining easily walkable between locations. There are many points of interest between venues and accommodation. You can find more information about exploring Oxford here: https://oxfordcity.co.uk/explore-oxford/

Do virtual attendees need to book sessions?

We recommend reserving your sessions as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
We recommend booking the sessions you most wish to attend live. All other sessions will be available as recordings. You will have access to all recorded content for 90 days after the conference via the virtual platform. We ensure there is seating available for everyone registered for a session; however, seating is first come, first served.
Please note:
Accommodation at Oxford colleges offers a quintessential “Oxford experience.” These historic colleges are steeped in tradition, with beautiful architecture and grounds to explore.
We are also offering a variety of additional accommodation options, including a selection of more upmarket hotel options. Availability is limited, and we strongly recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.
Please note that:
Please also note that the Basic College Accommodation options offered on the accommodation page are basic student accommodation and are very different from hotel stays, which is reflected in the cost.
These college rooms are functional and designed for students, with camp-style beds or thin mattresses, and minimal furnishings. Towels and linen are provided but are basic, and guests may wish to bring their own for added comfort.
This basic accommodation is offered because it is the most cost-effective option in Oxford and allows guests to stay within historic Oxford college buildings. Facilities within the rooms are extremely simple. Please only book college accommodation if affordability and location are your priority, rather than comfort or luxury.
